100% private — your files never leave your device

Convert a HEIC photo to JPG

Drop in an iPhone photo — HEIC is decoded automatically, then saved back out as a JPG anyone can open.

Private by design

Every transformation runs in your browser. We could not see your images if we wanted to.

Why your iPhone photo will not open

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. The format stores a photo at roughly half the size of an equivalent JPG, which is why Apple chose it, but it is not understood everywhere. Windows needs an extension to show it, many websites and upload forms reject it outright, and some older apps simply show a blank or broken file. JPG, by contrast, opens on practically every device made in the last twenty years.

Converting without installing anything

  1. Drop your HEIC file on this page. It is decoded in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no account to create.
  2. The photo is saved back out as a JPG. If the destination has a file-size limit, turn on the size requirement and both are done in one pass.
  3. Download the JPG and use it wherever the HEIC was refused.

Several photos at once work too: drop the whole set and download the results together.

What changes, and what does not

  • Dimensions stay the same unless you ask for something else. A 4032 × 3024 HEIC becomes a 4032 × 3024 JPG.
  • The file usually gets bigger. HEIC is more efficient than JPG, so the same picture takes more bytes as JPG. That is normal, and it is not a loss of quality. If the result is larger than a form allows, compress it to a target size.
  • One re-encode happens. Converting is a single, high-quality save, not repeated damage. Keep the HEIC original if you might want it again.
  • Location and camera data is not carried over. The JPG does not include the GPS position or camera details from the HEIC, which is useful when you are about to share the photo.

Stop it happening in future

If you often need JPGs, you can tell the iPhone to take them in the first place: in Settings, open Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be JPG, at the cost of larger files. If you leave it on High Efficiency, your photos are smaller and you convert only when a site demands it. When you transfer photos to a computer, iPhones can also convert to JPG automatically, but that setting is easy to miss and varies between iOS versions.

When a conversion is not the problem

If a converted JPG is still refused, the cause is probably something else: file size, pixel dimensions or a rule about the file name. The guide on converting HEIC to JPG walks through the other options, and the one on upload size errors covers the common rejections.
