SSC signature resizer (10–20 KB)

The SSC signature range is preset below. Scan or photograph your signature, crop it close and download a JPG between 10 and 20 KB.

What SSC needs from you

For SSC registration, the photograph is now captured live inside the SSC application, so the only image you have to prepare yourself is the signature. It must be a JPG between 10 KB and 20 KB, and about 6.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high. That is a 3:1 shape: wide and short, with very little room for anything except your signature.

Notices differ between exams and years. Check the one for your exam on ssc.gov.in, which takes precedence if the rules change.

Making the signature file

  1. Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen. Use a clear, normal-sized signature, the same as on your ID.
  2. Scan it, or photograph it flat in even light with no shadows.
  3. Drop the image on this page, crop it tightly around the signature in a 3:1 frame and download the JPG.

When the file is the wrong size

A signature on plain paper is an easy image: it has few colours and no detail, so it compresses extremely well. That causes the opposite problem to most uploads. A clean signature can fall to 5 or 6 KB, which the portal would reject as too small. With the 10 KB minimum set here, the file is saved at a higher quality or topped up to 10 KB without changing how it looks. If your scan is too large, the tool brings it down to 20 KB or less.

  • Too large: crop closer, or use a lower-resolution scan, before compressing.
  • Too small: the minimum is handled for you; see increase image size in KB for how it works.
  • Looks pale: use a darker pen and scan at a higher contrast. Pale ink compresses into grey blur.
  • Cut off: leave a small margin around the strokes.

Other exams have their own rules: see IBPS, UPSC, NEET, or the complete exam size chart. Your signature is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
