LinkedIn Image Sizes (2026): Profile Photo, Banner & Posts
On LinkedIn your profile photo and banner are the first things recruiters, clients and colleagues see. A blurry photo or a banner with the text cut off reads as careless. The sizes are simple once you know them, and the two things that trip people up — the circle crop and the overlapping profile photo — are easy to design around.

LinkedIn image sizes at a glance
| Format | Size (pixels) | Notes |
|---|---|---|

| Square feed image | 1200 × 1200 | 1:1 |
Sizes checked against current guides in September 2026. LinkedIn redesigns its profile from time to time, so trust its own upload preview if it differs.
Your profile photo
LinkedIn recommends a square image of at least 400 × 400 pixels, and shows it cropped to a circle. Frame yourself from the shoulders up, roughly centred, so the circle doesn’t clip your head. A plain background and even light do more for a professional impression than any resolution.
Your profile banner
The banner is very wide — 4:1 at 1584 × 396 — so it is easy to get wrong. Two things to design around:
- Your profile photo overlaps the lower-left corner. Keep key elements toward the centre or right.
- Desktop and mobile crop it differently. Keep text near the middle, and avoid tiny lettering that becomes unreadable on a phone.
If the banner looks blurry, the original was almost certainly narrower than 1584 pixels and got stretched. Start from a larger image.
Post images
For a shared image or link preview, 1200 × 627 (1.91:1) is the standard landscape size. A square 1200 × 1200 image takes up more room on a phone feed, which can help it stand out.
Getting the file ready, step by step
- Crop to the shape in the crop tool: Square for a profile photo, a custom 4 : 1 ratio for a banner.
- Resize with the banner page (1584 × 396) or the profile picture page (400 × 400).
- Check the before/after slider — look at your face and any text.
- Download as JPG for a photo, or PNG for a graphic with text.
Format and file size
The 8 MB limit is generous, and a resized image will sit far below it. JPG is best for photographs; PNG suits logos and flat graphics. Both are accepted.
